A night of fashion and Filipino pride

A festive, star-studded evening unfolded at SM Aura as the inaugural Paskong TernoCon 2023 made its grand debut. This joint venture between SM Supermalls, Bench/Lifestyle + Clothing, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) marked a milestone in Philippine fashion history, placing the spotlight on the visionary talents of designers Joey Samson and Lesley Mobo.

Against the backdrop of a breathtaking Filipiniana-themed Christmas centerpiece, the runway transformed into a canvas for Samson and Mobo’s artistry. Samson’s minimalist approach resonated through his impeccably tailored pieces, while Mobo’s collection exuded a vibrant spirit of maximalism, color, and traditional Filipino aesthetics.

But beyond the spectacle, Paskong TernoCon served a higher purpose—inclusivity. By staging the event within a mall setting, the organizers aimed to open the doors of high fashion to a wider audience.

“This event embodies SM Supermalls’ commitment to championing Filipino culture and artistry. By hosting this event in our malls, we hope to bring this beautiful tradition closer to more people,” said SM Supermalls President Steven Tan.

Indeed, the celebration of Pinoy pride was evident in the glittering front rows. First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, prominent figures like SM Investments Corporation Chairperson Tessie Sy-Coson and Bench founder Ben Chan, and cultural advocates like CCP Vice-Chairperson Margie Moran-Floirendo joined forces to witness this momentous occasion.

The runway also played host to notable names like Janine Gutierrez and David Licauco, Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ara Arida, and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.

Paskong TernoCon 2023 transcended a mere fashion show, transforming into a powerful symbol of the Filipino spirit, artistry, and creativity.

The event was made possible through the collaboration of various individuals, including Lakat (footwear) and Unang Panahon (jewelry) for Joey Samson’s collection, while Ash & Muff, Harold & Harry (earrings), and Dante Leyesa (bags) for Lesley Mobo’s creations.
