President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to sign the 2025 national budget into law on Rizal Day, December 30, according to acting Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez.
Chavez informed Palace reporters that President Marcos will ceremonially sign the P6.3 trillion national budget in Malacañang.
“Signing [of the national budget is] on 30 December 2024 after the Rizal Day events,” Chavez said.
In a separate report on Monday, President Marcos’ older sister, Senator Imee Marcos, revealed that the chief executive will sign the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) before the end of the year.
The President met with Cabinet officials—Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, and Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan—to discuss the budget bill.
Malacañang noted that the government will not work with a reenacted budget as Mr. Marcos is intent on signing a 2025 national budget that is mutually acceptable to all stakeholders.
The President postponed the initial signing of the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) on December 20 to allow for a more thorough examination of the national budget.
