Perpetual Junior Altas capture NGBL crown

In a thrilling finale, the Perpetual Junior Altas defeated the National University Bullpups, 96-93, to claim the inaugural championship of the Next Generation Basketball League (NGBL) recently at the MGC Gym in Taguig City.

Jericho Cristino, the Finals’ MVP, led the Junior Altas to victory with 21 points and five clutch three-pointers.

The Las Piñas City-based team overcame a 14-point deficit in the third quarter to secure the win.

The game was closely contested, with several lead changes and tied scores. The Junior Altas ultimately clinched the victory with a crucial three-pointer by Icee Callangan in the final seconds.

Team Manager Anton Tamayo’s team celebrated in the middle of the court while their supporters cheered in the bleachers.

In addition to the championship trophy and a P300,000 cash prize, the Junior Altas also received individual awards.

Jan Roluna was named Season MVP, Jericho Cristino was named Finals MVP, TJ Tabbuan was included in the Top 10 Players, and coach Joph Cleopas was named Coach of the Year.

Cleopas expressed his excitement about the team’s victory and their prospects for the NCAA Season 100.

“We will bring this championship experience and also our finals game last season to NCAA Season 100,” Cleopas said.

The Junior Altas dominated the NGBL regular season, finishing with an 8-0 record and sweeping through the semifinals to reach the championship game.

The team’s success can be attributed to the strong performances of all the players, including LeBron Jhames Daep, Aries Borja, Kelsey Baldoria, JD Pagulayan, Lance Nitura, Aethon Salvo, Isiah Pelegria, Kurt Velasquez, Kirbey Borbon, Kurt Patalinghug, Kakai Zamoras, Hanz Candido, Felix Corpuz, Renzo Zanoria, Loiue Rosales, and Pertjude Binagatan.
