Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel issued a public warning about holiday scams targeting Filipinos.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant during this season of gift-giving and online shopping.
Pimentel highlighted the importance of following the advisory from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
“Be careful this Christmas,” he stated, noting that many scammers are looking for opportunities to deceive individuals.
He advised against clicking on links in suspicious text messages, which can easily compromise personal information and financial security.
“Do not engage with messages from unknown sources,” Pimentel cautioned.
He also stressed the necessity of verifying the legitimacy of any communication before responding.
Pimentel encouraged the public to report any suspicious messages or scams to the NTC through their website or hotline at 1682.
“Taking precautions is essential to avoid scams,” he concluded.
