PARIS (Via PLDT Home) — Vanessa Sarno’s Olympic debut came to a screeching halt as the 20-year-old Filipino weightlifting sensation failed to register a single successful lift in the snatch portion of the women’s 71kg division at the Paris Olympic Games early Saturday (Philippine time).

Sarno’s early exit concluded the country’s weightlifting campaign in the Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, Olivia Reeves of the United States claimed gold in the event, securing the country’s first Olympic weightlifting gold since 2000.

The Philippines has so far garnered two gold medals, courtesy of gymnast Carlos Yulo, and two bronze medals from boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.

The country’s remaining hopes for a medal rest on golfers Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina.
