Guo to arrive in Manila by Thursday evening

Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is expected to arrive in the Philippines from Jakarta, Indonesia around by late evening this Thursday, multiple government agencies confirmed.

Guo is onboard a chartered flight, which is expected to land at a private hangar in Pasay City, where law enforcement authorities from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other organizations are waiting.

Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr. and PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, among other government officials, escorted Guo on her way back to Manila via a private plane.

They were earlier estimated to arrive in Manila around 6:00 in the PM, but their flight had been delayed. Their estimated time of arrival was pushed to between 11:00 PM until midnight.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said Guo will be detained by the PNP, but will be turned over later to the Senate, where she has a standing warrant of arrest after being cited for contempt.

An arrest warrant was also issued versus Guo by a regional trial court in Capas, Tarlac over graft and corrupt practices charges filed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Guo was arrested by Indonesian authorities on Wednesday morning.

In a Facebook livestream, Abalos reported that police-to-police agreements have been signed between the Philippines and Indonesia to facilitate the transfer of Guo back to Manila.

“We are going to fetch her today. Her travel papers have been arranged. The immigration officials of the Philippines and (Indonesia) are here. Of course, we prepared her travel authority… Everything that is needed have been accomplished,” Abalos told reporters in Tagalog.

Abalos and Marbil landed at the Soekarno Hatta International airport in Jakarta on Wednesday night to pick up Guo, who was under the custody of Indonesian law enforcement authorities.

Guo is facing numerous complaints in connection with the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) industry.
