PNP logs 18,756 cases of violence vs. minors

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded a total of 18,756 cases of violence against children in its 2023 report.

Maj. Meriel Editha Reyes, assistant chief of the PNP Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Division and Children Protection Center, said most of the cases were child abuse with 7,933 reported incidents.

Rape incidents came second with 7,262 cases and other obscenities at 2,049 cases.

Reyes clarified however, that the number of cases is lower than the 19,101 incidents reported in 2022 and 19,656 in 2021.

She added though that they were not satisfied with the data they have gathered.
