Philippines makes it to 2026 UN Honor Roll—DFA

The Philippines has secured a spot on the United Nations’ 2026 Honor Roll, which signifies that it has fully paid its regular budget assessments on time, in accordance with UN financial rules and regulations. Only 39 countries made the list, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

In a statement released on Wednesday, February 4, the DFA highlighted that the country’s prompt payment showcases the Philippines’ enduring commitment to the United Nations and multilateralism.

“It reflects the country’s concrete contribution to facilitate the work of the UN, amidst challenging geopolitical realities, in delivering on its mandates across the three pillars of peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights,” the statement read.

A report from the UN Committee on Contributions revealed that the Philippines made its payment on January 28, totaling $6,299,300 (approximately 370,871,287.50 PHP).

The Philippines’ annual contribution to the UN budget is determined by the scales of assessment set by the General Assembly.

This methodology considers the annual gross national income (GNI), per capita income, the debt burdens of member states, and other relevant adjustments.

According to Article 17 of the UN Charter, the expenses of the Organization are to be borne by the member states as apportioned by the General Assembly.

Currently, there are 193 member states in the UN.
