Two pilots were killed after a Philippine Air Force (PAF) SF-260 trainer aircraft crashed in Cabuyao, Tuba, Benguet on Tuesday morning during a navigation training flight, the military confirmed.
“With deep sorrow, the Philippine Air Force mourns the passing of the two pilots involved in the SF-260 training flight mishap in Tuba, Benguet. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families, loved ones, and fellow airmen during this time of grief,” the organization said in a statement.
PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Christina Basco said the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. The aircraft was part of a formation of 10 planes that departed Fernando Air Base in Lipa City and were en route to Baguio City.
“The Philippine Air Force confirms that one SF-260 trainer aircraft crashed in Cabuyao, Tuba, Benguet at around 10:30 A.M. today during a navigation training flight,” Basco said.
“We are deeply saddened to inform that both pilots passed,” she later confirmed.

Following the incident, the PAF said it immediately coordinated with local government units and the nearest air base for response operations.
The PAF said an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and “will release further updates once verified information becomes available.”
In a statement, Tuba’s public information office said responders promptly coordinated with concerned agencies, leading to the rapid deployment of rescue and ambulance units to the area.
Upon reaching the site, responders found a government aircraft bearing the PAF logo in a forested portion of Mt. Kabuyao.
“Two occupants were initially found unconscious and were immediately attended to by rescue personnel on site,” the local government said.
