Sangley Point in Cavite City, Cavite; Coron and Cuyo in Palawan; CBSUA-Pili in Camarines Sur; and Dipolog in Zamboanga are expected to sizzle at 45°C on Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the heat index in Dipolog City on Sunday reached 46°C, while Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Cuyo, Palawan; Coron, Palawan; and Sangley Point, Cavite registered a heat index of 45°C.
PAGASA also said that from Sunday to Monday (May 17 to 18), the frontal system located over the eastern section of Northern Luzon may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of localized rain showers and thunderstorms.
Both on Sunday and Monday, a scorching heat index of 44°C is expected in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Also on Monday, a heat index of 44°C will hit NAIA in Pasay City; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Roxas City, Capiz; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Borongan, Eastern Samar; and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Some 32 areas, including Science Garden in Quezon City, may reach heat index levels between 42°C and 43°C.
