The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced Sunday it has validated 434,317 waitlisted households as of October 31, paving the way for their potential inclusion in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
These households are next in line to replace beneficiaries who have graduated from the program through the ‘Pugay Tagumpay’ ceremony, according to DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao.
A total of 1.18 million potential households are currently undergoing validation to determine their eligibility based on program criteria, Dumlao added.
To qualify, households must be classified as poor or near-poor; have members aged 0-18 or a pregnant family member at the time of registration; and must commit to complying with the program’s conditions.
Eligible households will replace beneficiaries who have exited the program.
In July last year, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian ordered the reassessment of 4Ps beneficiaries flagged as non-poor under the Listahanan 3 database. The reassessment reinstated over 700,000 beneficiaries.
The 4Ps program, launched in 2008 and institutionalized by Republic Act No. 11310 in 2019, aims to reduce poverty and invest in human capital. It provides conditional cash grants to poor households for up to seven years to support children’s health, nutrition, and education.
Eligible households receive monthly cash subsidies, including ₱750 for health, ₱300-₱700 per child depending on their education level, and a ₱600 rice subsidy. These benefits are capped at three children per household and are distributed for 10 months of the school year.
The DSWD said more than four million households nationwide are registered beneficiaries of the 4Ps.
