Jubahib: ‘No bad blood between me and Alvarez’

Incumbent Governor Edwin Jubahib said there is no bad blood between him and former boss and mentor outgoing Davao Del Norte Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez even if he is no longer a member of the Reporma party.

Jubahib filed his certificate of candidacy on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, accompanied by his daughter Clarice Jubahib who will be his running mate in the 2025 Gubernatorial election.

Jubahib in an interview with the media shortly after his filing clarified that he and Alvarez remained good friends and supportive of each other despite their party differences. Jubahib and his daughter will run under the Partido Federal Ng Pilipinas. Clarice Jubahib filed her COC earlier on October 3.

The governor also explained why he changed his prior choice of a running mate, saying that: “The reason for the changes was, Nickel has other plans, he wants to run as Congressman of the First District. My daughter is qualified and she supports all of my programs so better to make her my running mate to ensure that all of my plans for our province will be delivered,” he said adding the other members if the party has agreed to the idea.

He added he doesn’t want to experience another setback working with a Vice Governor who was not supportive of his projects for the province.
