Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo or Guo Hua Ping arrived at Senate Monday morning, September 9, to attend the POGO hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality chaired by Sen. Risa Hontiveros.

Guo who fled the country, but was arrested in Indonesia and brought back to the Philippines, will face POGO-related crimes filed against her.

She was donning a bullet proof vest and a helmet following alleged death threats from organized crime groups, including the Chinese mafia.

Hontiveros said that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has confirmed that Alice Leal Guo is Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003, presenting herself in the Senate and the citizens of Bamban under false pretenses.

“This is why the celebrity-like treatment to her is unacceptable. Let us not be fooled,” Hontiveros commented.

“Our hearings have made significant progress,” she added.

The committee hearing has also issued a subpoena to Sual Mayor Liseldo D. Calugay following his failure to attend the hearing.

Senator Joel Villanueva also noted the absence of Cassandra Li Ong, representative of Lucky South 99.
