OVP to expand ‘Libreng Sakay’ operations for upcoming transport strike

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced plans to expand its ‘Libreng Sakay’ program in response to the upcoming three-day nationwide transport strike, starting on Wednesday, August 14.

The OVP said it will deploy additional buses to assist commuters across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, who may be affected by the disruption.

Currently, the OVP has four ‘Libreng Sakay’ buses operating in the National Capital Region (NCR), with additional units stationed in Cebu, Bacolod, and Davao.

To further support the affected public, the OVP will introduce services on seven different routes across the country during the strike.

These buses are fully air-conditioned and come equipped with essential amenities, including portable toilets, charging ports, and free Wi-Fi.

In addition to existing services, the OVP will officially launch a new PITX-Naic route on Wednesday. This route will serve passengers traveling from Naic and nearby towns in Cavite to the central terminal in Parañaque City.

The three-day transport strike is being organized by several organizations in the public transport sector to protest the implementation of the public transport modernization program.
