The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Saturday clarified the recent development on Bamban Mayor Alice Guo’s real identity would not affect the criminal cases filed against her.
In an article published by GMA News Online, Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano said that criminal cases have been already filed against Guo.
“There’s also been talk about her fake identity… That won’t affect her cases,” Clavano said.
“She could face additional liabilities if it is found that she is using a stolen identity,” he added.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros on Thursday revealed the Bamban mayor and Guo Hua Ping are the same person, citing National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) findings of matching fingerprints. She backed Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian’s suspicions on Mayor Guo’s identity, supported by a photo and documents from the Board of Investments (BOI) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
“Identical. Similar. One and the same. ‘Mayor Alice Guo’ is Chinese national Guo Hua Ping. She is a Chinese national masquerading as Filipino citizen to facilitate crimes being committed by POGO (Philippine offshore gaming operations),” Hontiveros said.
Gatchalian firmly believes both Guo and “Guo Huaping” are the same person, despite denials. Guo came to the country with her Chinese parents under the Special Investor’s Resident Visa (SIRV) program.
