The Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued a show-cause order against a van’s registered owner after the vehicle’s driver was caught in a viral video counterflowing on a Quezon City road while violating road safety rules and regulations.
The issuance could lead to the driver’s identification, according to LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II.
“The driver committed a serious discourtesy not only to the law but also to his fellow motorist. We will not tolerate not to hold this abusive driver liable,” Mendoza said.
The incident happened along Quirino Highway in Barangay Baesa on December 30.
As seen in the viral video, the vehicle obstructed the free passage of other motorists, while the driver exhibited reckless behavior, including making a gesture that appeared to mock the other motorists.
The LTO directed the registered owner to appear before its central office on January 9, as well as submit a written and notarized explanation as to why he should not be sanctioned.
