PAL Holdings Inc. said operations of Philippine Airlines and Air Philippines were “severely” affected by the coronavirus disease 2019.
PHI said PAL and Air Philippines Corp. had cancelled numerous flights to and from Manila, both local and international. “Considering the continuing gravity of the situation, more flights are expected to be cancelled,” PHI said.
“Nevertheless, both airlines continue to assess any and all possibilities available to mitigate the increasing risks it is currently facing. Rest assured that both PAL and APC will continue to exercise extraordinary diligence to make sure that the spread of the disease will be stopped,” the company said.
PHI said both airlines implemented guidelines in pursuit of healthier and safer travels such as the continuous cleaning of all its planes and premises and temperature check of all its pilots, staff and passengers.
PAL earlier announced the suspension of all domestic flights and selected international flights. It aso laid off about 300 employees amid continued losses, aggravated by the ongoing travel restrictions and flight suspensions to areas affected by COVID-19.
