Antique will provide nutritional boost to over 20,000 daycare children across 692 child development centers in 18 municipalities through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP).

Faith Villavicencio, the DSWD’s SFP program in charge for Antique, announced that several local government units (LGUs) already received a total of P37.6 million in public funds to support the program across the province.

“A total of 20,895 daycare children are the target beneficiaries for the 120-day SFP implementation in the 18 municipalities of the province,” Villavicencio stated.

Funds have been disbursed to various LGUs, including Lau-an, which received support for 1,395 learners on July 26, 2024; Anini-y, with 822 beneficiaries funded on August 6, 2024; and Culasi, which received funds for 2,066 children on August 12, 2024.

The LGUs are encouraged to prepare meals using locally sourced vegetables and meat. The feeding program will provide hot meals, including rice, vegetables, and meat, prepared by the children’s parents.

In addition to hot meals, fresh dairy milk will be distributed to 950 malnourished children in San Remigio and 900 in Lau-an. The milk, sourced from the Hamtic Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) and Pandan MPC with the help of the Philippine Carabao Center, aims to accelerate the nutritional improvement of these children.
