Jollibee Foods Corp. chief executive Ernest Tanmantiong said Tuesday the company aims to increase its stores in the United States over the next five to seven years as part of a plan to become one of the five largest restaurant companies in the world.
“The US, being the world’s largest economy in quick service restaurant market, is a key part of achieving our mission. We have over 500 stores in the US, across six brands, including the Coffee Bean and Tea leaf, Smash Burger and Tortazo, on top of our fave Philippine brands Jollibee, Chowking and Red Ribbon,” Tanmantiong said during the “Make It Happen” Philippine-US business dialog organized by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C.
The US has the most number of Jollibee stores outside the Philippines, with 19 more planned in 2021. Globally, Jollibee has more than 5,800 stores despite the closure of 486 branches in 2020 due to the pandemic.
JFC recently acquired American Chinese fastfood chain Panda Express and intends to expand the chain this year, together with American franchise Burger King.
