Dynamic duo

This is not about Bruce Wayne and his ward Dick Grayson of Batman and Robin fame. Don’t even think this has something to do with Zan and Jana, the Wonder Twins in of the Justice League cartoon show that most Generation X-ers watched during its Saturday Fun day timeslot.

Today’s dynamic duo is brought to us by the letters B, the first letter in Benedict Cua’s name and M, which begins the screen name of Mimiyuuh. Nowadays, they are two of the biggest internet sensations this side of the Pacific.

Their stand-alone numbers are quite impressive. Cua’s digits: 1.41 million YouTube subscribers, 679.5K followers on Twitter, and on Instagram, 514K followers.

Jerermy Sancebuche, the fairy’s birth name, has numbers high and mighty: 13 million IG followers, 1.8million Twitter followers, and in YouTube 2.87 million strong supporters.

Online personalities Benedict Cua and Mimiyuuuh

Loving them is easy as falling in love with your first ChocNut. Cua can pass as a KDrama lead star. In his vlogs, he is funny, naughty with a sunshiny smile and vibe that screams down-to-earth and easy to hang out and be friends with kind of millennial young man.

Mimiyuuh, on the other hand, is your charming and friendly gay neighbor. The one fairy friend for keeps. The barkada’s “Barbie Doll” and source of endless guffaws. When the going gets rough, we all know he becomes the sounding board and crying shoulders of all.

The ladies of Fate, the forces of the Muses, or is it Cupid that brought them together? We do not have a definite answer to this question for now. What is certain, the cosmos made them collaborate so that they can become the Universe’s biggest happy pill kind of a surprise to us all.

Cua and Mimiyuuh’s dynamism as partners is contagious because of the following reasons: the spontaneity of their banters. The chemistry they share is electric. And the kilig that they unknowingly give, hits you bull’s eye.

As a spectator, a part of you wants them to go beyond what their tandem dictates. There is this little duwende that grows in you, and it gets tickled with every flirtatious remark they exchange. There is this romantic rush you feel when they look at each other’s eyes, hold hands, smell the breath of each other and just laugh out loud with their antics laced with titillation. Thus, we all cannot help but wonder, is there more to the bromosexual relationship that they now enjoy and share?

Their collabs always trend: when Mimiyuh acted as vocal coach to Cua, the video got 892,223 views; the Benedict “Dalagang Pilpina” tutorial by Mimi registered 654,281 views; their 24-Hour Mag-Jowa Challenge, amassed 1,560,413 total views for the fairy and 1,450,950 views for the reluctant matinee idol; and The Spicy Noodles Challenge with Mimi by Cua got 2,491,552 views and its counterpart by Mimi, My BOY na FRIEND Does My Make-Up received 1,363,535 views.

Their last collaboration, which was the first video of them together that made this author a believer, the One Night Stand Challenge, Cua’s views clocked 979,050 views while Mimiyuuh’s gained 7,754,579 views.

It has been nine months since their last video collaboration. Their videos, after repeated viewings, provide the much-needed respite from the excruciatingly difficult times we are all experiencing this pandemic and quarantine season.

To Benedict and Mimiyuuh, thank you to this internet dynamic duo for bringing laughter and kilig. Indeed, the different kind of love you have for each other needs no label. Here’s hoping that a new collaboration happens the soonest. Your adoring public awaits. Choke us! LOL!
