The Philippines’ first sky hotel paid tribute to the selfless service of all frontliners against the coronavirus pandemic by lighting the skyline a brilliant red. Marco Polo Ortigas Manila stands as one of the Ortigas Center’s tallest structures, and is a heartbeat away from some of the leading medical institutions in the fight against COVID-19. This poignant marker of solidarity started last April 9, coinciding with the country’s commemoration of the National Day of Valor.
This act of support is among the hotel’s ongoing initiatives with the city of Pasig. Around 1000 soap bars have also been turned over by the hotel for the city’s healthcare workers for hygiene and safety.
“More than ever, we join in honoring the dedication of our frontliners against the global pandemic. Red symbolizes bravery and courage, and it serves as a reminder that our community shares these values at our core,” said Frank Reichenbach, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila general manager. “By keeping our lights on with this simple gesture, we hope to be among the beacons in our community to guide all affected by this disease towards recovery, and bring our colleagues who heeded the call to serve back home safely,” he added.
