Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—The Philippine National Police has banned the movement of buses going inside and outside Cagayan Valley region.
The move is part of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) measures being implemented here to prevent the entry and spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the province and region as well.
Nueva Vizcaya serves as the main entry point of commuters to Cagayan Valley region along with the Benguet-Kayapa alternate road.
Police Senior Supt. Richard Saavedra, Police Provincial Director, said the bus ban started at noon yesterday right after the Provincial COVID 19 Task Force meeting called by Governor Carlos Padilla and also attended by the provincial government’s department and division heads.
He also called on all villagers planning to travel to cancel their trip in the meantime as the ECQ is now in place and effect.
“Movement of private cars are only allowed within their jurisdiction during important purposes such as buying of basic needs and emergencies,” he said.
Saavedra also said Municipal COVID Task Force checkpoints were already set up in the 15 municipalities of the province to limit movements of villagers and to ensure their safety from the COVID 19 infection.
“We are appealing for the cooperation of the public to fully abide and comply with our preventive measures so that we can overcome this health threat and emergency in our respective communities,” he added.
Saavedra said the PNP checkpoints, backed by health workers will continue to conduct thermal scanning protocols to villagers during the duration of the ECQ as ordered by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
