Broadcaster turned politician Erwin Tulfo officially threw his hat into the 2025 senatorial race, filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator on Sunday under the Lakas CMD party of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Tulfo is the incumbent representative of the ACT-CIS party-list. Should he be elected to the Senate, he vowed to keep working on legislations that would benefit the poor and the working class. “We will push for increased wages and good benefits as well as a proper retirement package,” he said.
The former broadcaster enjoys high ratings in pre-election surveys that he is already expected to join his brother, incumbent Senator Raffy Tulfo, in the 20th Congress. Their other brother, Ben, is also eyeing a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm elections.
Erwin said the Tulfos are just offering themselves to public service and it is up to the voters to decided if they want all three of them to work together in the Senate.
The Tulfos launched their respective careers in mainstream politics in similar fashion by building their public profiles as television and radio show hosts. They are widely known for their sensational brand of journalism.
