Award-winning Swiss director Simon Jaquemet’s Electric Child will be having its world premiere at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
With several scenes shot in the Philippines, Electric Child revolves around the story of a couple with a child who develops an unusual illness, leading the father to interact with an AI character in an attempt to save his child.
The film was co-produced by local production company Epicmedia Productions and was a recipient of the Film Development Council of the Philippines’s (FDCP) Film Location Incentive Program (FLIP), which financially supports international films that are produced in the country.
The incentive program is aimed at promoting the country as a location for film production and gives financial support to qualified local production companies that help international production companies in producing content in the Philippines.
The screening for Electric Child will take place in the Piazza Grande in Switzerland from Aug. 7 to 17.
