The Marine Battalion Landing Team-5 (MBTL-5) conducted a ceremony for the turnover of loose firearms and ammunition in Maguindanao del Norte.
This activity is part of the Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Management Program of ASPIRE (Assistance for Security, Peace, Integration, and Recovery for Advancing Human Security in BARMM).
1st Marine Brigade Commander BGen. Romulo Quemado presided over the turnover, alongside Datu Odin Sinsuat Mayor Datu Lester Sinsuat and MBTL-5 Commander LtCol. Lester Mark Baky.
The officials witnessed the surrender of 19 loose firearms, which included a Browning machine gun, a rocket-propelled grenade, and gauge shotguns, among others.
Assorted magazines and ammunition were also surrendered to this unit.
MBLT-5 stated that it is fully committed to achieving the core objectives of the Normalization Process.
“In close cooperation with the OPAPRU, JNC, and other relevant government agencies, we will continue supporting the SALW Management Program to achieve lasting peace and stability in BARMM,” said the Marine Battalion.
