Fil-Am cager Sean Alter has committed to suit up for the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.
The 6’8” Alter accepted an invitation to join the Fighting Maroons before the championship game for the 2023 Smart-NBTC Division 1 championship.
The 19-year-old Alter is part of Fil-Nation Select.
Alter confirmed his decision to UP basketball program director Bo Perasol before the Fil-Am National fought National University-Nazareth School for the Division 1 crown.
“Sean’s another important piece to the puzzle for us to keep competing in the UAAP,” said Perasol.
Alter averaged 5.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists for Fil-Am Nation.
He now joins 6’7” National Collegiate Athletic Association 98 Juniors’ Most Valuable Player Luis Pablo and 6’8” Seven Gagate in the big Maroons’ rotation.
The Maroons’ lineup of big men also includes 6’11” UAAP 85 Men’s MVP Malick Diouf.
UP is seeking a second title in the last three years following a runner-up finish last season.
