The Department of Energy approved the application of Linseed Field Power Corp. to construct, expand, rehabilitate and modify its integrated liquefied natural gas import terminal in Barangay Ilijan, Batangas City.
Sources said the application was approved by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi who is promoting the development of the LNG industry.
The department previously approved the transfer of the project application from Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila Inc. to Linseed. AG&P will concentrate on being the project contractor.
Documents submitted to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources showed that Linseed’s LNG terminal project would cost about P14.6 billion and would be completed by June 2022.
The proposed project is adjacent to the 1,200-megawatt Ilijan combined cycle power plant.
