THE Philippine Military Academy’s top graduate this year will be going home to Iloilo City to a new house given to him by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte himself conferred the certificate of ownership of the house to 25-year-old Cadet First Class Jaywardene Galilea Hontoria during the graduation rites on Sunday.
Hontoria, a registered nurse from Pavia, Iloilo, also received the Presidential Saber.
He was also awarded the Chief of Staff Saber for being the brigade commander of the Cadet Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which was conferred to him by chief of staff General Rey Guerrero.
Hontoria, who will be joining the Philippine Navy, was also given the Philippine Navy Saber by Rear Admiral Robert Empedrad, the Navy’s flag officer-in-command.
Hontoria led this year’s batch of PMA graduates followed by Cadet First Class Ricardo Witawit Liwaden and Cadet First Class Jun-Jay Malazzab Castro.
