Jinggoy seeks leave for bum shoulder

Detained former senator Jinggoy Estrada has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow him to be brought to a hospital over complaints of aching right shoulder.

In a four-page motion, Estrada asked the court’s Fifth Division that he may be allowed to undergo a medical checkup at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City at the soonest possible time.

Estrada’s lawyers said the former senator experienced extreme pain in his right shoulder in the late afternoon of May 11. They said Estrada had been in pain since last April 2016.

“As the pain on accused-movant’s right shoulder have been extreme… accused-movant prays of the Honorable Court that he be allowed to be brought immediately at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center for immediate medical attention,” Estrada said in his motion.

The lawyers also noted that Estrada was diagnosed to have “frozen shoulder” in November 2014, prompting the court to allow him to undergo therapy sessions at Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

Estrada was accused of pocketing P183 million in commissions from the pork barrel scam allegedly engineered by Napoles.

He is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
