QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista has turned over 12 sets of digital facial composite sketch apparatus to the Quezon City Police District to beef up its capability to fight criminality.
“The QCPD’s investigators are going high-tech,” Bautista said.
The state-of-art-equipment boasts of a database featuring at least 2,500 facial components, which can be scrolled down through select facial feature sets for eyewitnesses to examine if they have trouble recalling a suspect’s individual feature.
The mayor also unveiled plans to turn over an additional 150 motorcycles to the QCPD to enhance the response capability of the city’s law enforcers.
The city’s investment on law enforcement is included in the QC government’s public safety modernization program.
At least 50 percent of the city police’s requests will be given this year, Bautista said.
The city government is also exploring the possibility of providing each of QCPD’s 12 police stations with a command center for inter-operability with other networks.
Since Bautista assumed office in 2010, the city government has already invested more than P145 million to acquire additional vehicles and equipment for the city police, including firearms, ammunition and bullet-proof vests.
Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar lauded the mayor for the donation.
“We at QCPD are thankful to Mayor Bautista for his full support to the police in its fight against criminality. Rest assured we will double our efforts to maintain peace and order in the city,” he said.
