Police in Cebu maintain tourists in their province are not at risk of being abducted by terrorists.
This is in reaction to the United States Embassy’s warning to its citizens on the risk of kidnapping in the southern part of Cebu, including Dalaguete and Santander.
Nevertheless, Police Regional Office 7 Public Information Officer Dexter Calacar says, they will intensify their security precautions to ensure the safety of both residents and tourists.
Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale is seeking an explanation from the police as to why the U.S. Embassy issued the travel advisory.
Santander in the southermost tip of Cebu is loved by tourists for its white-sand beaches and great diving spots.
Dalaguete is known as “Little Baguio” because of its foggy hillsides.
It is also called the “vegetable basket of Cebu” for its abundant vegetable farms.
