Dumaguete City marked a milestone by celebrating the 75th anniversary, or diamond jubilee, as a charter city on November 24, with various activities highlighting the proud heritage, talents, and culture of the City of Gentle People.
Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo assure that the 75th Diamond Jubilee of the Charter of Dumaguete City paid tribute to the people, events, and history that made Dumaguete among the most improved and promising Philippine cities.
Remollo further disclosed that Dumaguete is now a 2nd class city, an improvement from being 3rd class based on the significant growth of its regular income and economic vitality.
Among the main events were the competitions for Dumaguete Bulilit Idol and Dumaguete Teen Idol on November 20, Dumaguete Folk Dance and Dumaguete Idol on November 21, Dumaguete Balitaw and Balak Contest on November 22; Exhilarate 9 Featuring Manila Zest Prince Patulob and Duma Beat Dance Contest on November 23, all held nightly at Pantawan People’s Park.
The 75th Charter Day of Dumaguete on November 24 will serve as the opening salvo for the city’s Diamond Jubilee celebration until November 2024.
