The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) recorded a total of 565,887 passengers who benefited from the 12-day Christmas Free Ride program on LRT-2, reflecting strong commuter participation and support for the government’s holiday initiative.
The free ride program, implemented from December 14 to 25, catered to various sectors of society, including senior citizens, students, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, teachers and health care workers, persons with disabilities (PWDs), government employees, female passengers, families, members of the LGBTQIA and solo parents, private sector employees and kasambahay, uniformed personnel, and free ride for all.
The highest single-day free ride turnout was recorded on Christmas Day, December 25, for Free Ride For All, followed by December 18, for PWDs and male passengers, and December 20 for female passengers.
LRTA underscored that the holiday free ride initiative highlights the government’s initiative to provide accessible, affordable, and inclusive public transportation during the holiday season.
“The 12 Days of Christmas Free Ride is part of our continued efforts to support commuters and give back to the riding public during the holidays,” LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said.
LRTA continues to strengthen its efforts to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient rail services, aimed at improving the commuting experience of LRT-2 passengers.
Meanwhile, more than 62,000 passengers benefited from the LRT-2 Pamilya Pass 1+3 Program in December 2025, with a total of 62,780 passengers recorded based on the number of coupons issued throughout the month.
Strong participation was observed in all covered Sundays, reflecting the continued public interest in the program.
The Pamilya Pass 1+3 Program allows one paying adult to bring up to three family members or companions for free every Sunday on LRT-2.
LRTA said it continues to roll out passenger-centered initiatives that promote affordable travel, strengthen family bonding, and encourage more commuters to use public transportation.
