Rabin Angeles and Angela Muji are a natural pair for the screen. Cameras adore them, and their growing fan base eagerly follows every update about this rising onscreen couple, especially their undeniable chemistry. But what do Rabin and Angela admire most about each other as actors?

At the press conference for Viva Film’s first major release of 2026, the Philippine adaptation of the 2012 South Korean hit A Werewolf Boy, the lead stars shared the traits they admire after months of working closely together.

Angela spoke about the unique challenge of Rabin’s role, which requires no speaking lines.

“Rabin’s part is special because he expresses everything through his eyes. Working with him was easy and inspiring,” she said.

She also praised his dedication: “He handles demanding scenes with full commitment, even eating raw camote as part of his role. I admire how he fully embraces his character and enjoys every moment of performing.”

Rabin, in turn, lauded Angela’s focus and professionalism. “During taping, she remains fully immersed in her character. Her dedication makes collaboration seamless,” he expressed.

To create their own interpretations of beloved characters originally played by Song Joong-ki and Park Bo-young, the duo took different approaches. Rabin explored various wolf-themed books, series, and movies, shaping his version of Boy but he intentionally didn’t watch the original movie.

“I wanted to give my own take on the werewolf boy and bring a fresh perspective to the role,” he explained.

Angela studied the original film to understand her character deeply and develop a Filipino interpretation.

“It was exciting to adapt the role in a way that resonates with our audience, while staying true to the heart of the story,” she said.

In the story, Sara (Angela Muji) is a young woman whose family moves to a peaceful countryside home due to her illness. There, they meet a mysterious boy (Rabin Angeles) living in their barn, guided by animal instincts and communicating through gestures and expressions. Sara’s mother takes Boy in, and as Sara teaches him to eat, read, and behave like a human, a special bond flourishes.

Boy’s protective nature brings challenges when Juancho, Sara’s suitor, grows curious about him. As Boy’s origins become clear, Sara faces a life-changing decision to care for him, one that deepens their connection.

Award-winning director Crisanto Aquino (My Future You, Instant Daddy), who guided the pair in Seducing Drake Palma, brings a fresh, emotional perspective to this adaptation.

Supporting the duo is a talented ensemble led by award-winning Lorna Tolentino, with Albie Casiño, Candy Pangilinan, Yayo Aguila, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Annika Co, Rose Van Ginkel, Angel Raymundo, Raffy Tejada, Onyl Torres, Boaz Mariano, Francis Mata, Simon Ibarra, Omar Flores, Ruslan Jacob, Luna Amor Buniag, Lui Manansala, and Kanye Avendaño contributing to the story.

A Werewolf Boy opens in cinemas nationwide on Jan. 14
