Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of LRT-1, has partnered with Mister Loo Philippines to upgrade passenger restrooms across its network.
The collaboration aims to modernize facilities, ensuring a cleaner and more comfortable experience for commuters.
The partnership will pilot at LRT-1 EDSA and Fernando Poe Jr. stations, where existing restrooms at each station will undergo a complete renovation and upgrade by Mister Loo. To provide passengers with more options, the use of some of the renovated restrooms will remain free of charge, while the others will be converted into a premium facility accessible for a fee. This premium option will offer enhanced features, ensuring that commuters have a choice between quality essential facilities and a more premium experience.
By offering both upgraded free facilities and a premium paid option, LRMC ensures that passengers have a choice that best suits their needs.
The official Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony was attended by key executives from both organizations, including LRMC president and chief executive officer Enrico R. Benipayo, chief finance officer Franz C. Sia, and business development head Allan Rei Hernandez. Representing Mister Loo were founder and chief executive officer Andreas Wanner, senior business development manager Cristina Bolcan, and project manager architect Jude Gador.
“This initiative is part of LRMC’s dedication to improving the customer experience on LRT-1, one station at a time,” Enrico R. Benipayo, LRMC president and chief executive.
“We want to provide our commuters with convenience and comfort that goes beyond the train ride itself. Clean and functional restrooms are essential to that mission,” he added.
The renovation and construction are expected to begin soon, with the full rollout at the pilot stations targeted for the third quarter of 2026.
