Huawei Philippines has partnered with the prestigious De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s (DLS-CSB) Multimedia Arts (MMA) Program to transform the digital learning experience, encouraging creativity and innovation using Huawei’s GoPaint app featured on the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S. The upgraded PaperMatte Display on the new HUAWEI MatePad tablet enhances the students’ user experience, providing a more satisfying feel when creating art on the tablet.
Huawei took part in the festivities to commemorate the MMA Program’s anniversary. Held at the DLS-CSB’s Design and Arts Campus last July 30 to August 1, the event was a vibrant fusion of technology and artistic expression, reflecting on the program’s legacy of nurturing creative talent.
DLS-CSB’s MMA Program, a pioneering program in the Philippines, is celebrating 25 years of making waves in the creative industry with a 3-day event honoring the program’s past, present, and future. The event offered a unique opportunity to not only celebrate the program’s achievements in the last 25 years.
A Powerful Device for Creative Students and ProfessionalsMMA Chairperson Katrina Juane explained that the program has always prioritized providing students with an optimal learning environment, allowing them to gain valuable lessons and experiences that will help them achieve their goals.

In celebration of the program’s 25-year legacy, Juane claimed that they sought to partner with organizations to help mount a modest exhibition. “To our delight, Huawei stepped in with support by providing us with their latest (MatePad) tablets,” said Juane.  “This partnership with Huawei Philippines perfectly aligns with the program’s thrust as the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S meets our students’ needs for a portable digital drawing tool.”
She added, “We envision the future of the MMA program not just as a benchmark for other schools, but as a destination where international students aspire to study Multimedia Arts.”
During the 3-day event, Huawei was present to offer attendees an exclusive opportunity to experience their latest gadget offerings, including the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S, HUAWEI MatePad SE 11”, HUAWEI Pura 70 Series and the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 3.

The event featured “Artist Talks,” where MMA alumni Jer Dee and Saki Elbambo talked about their creative journeys with the current MMA students. They shared their experiences and insights to inspire and guide the next generation of creatives. Huawei also participated in these talks, highlighting the newest addition to Huawei’s MatePad tablet lineup, the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S.
Students had the chance to interact with the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S, which combines performance with portability. The HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S packs a punch with PC-Level productivity tools apps, including the upgraded WPS Office 2.0 and HUAWEI Notes. The device’s SuperHub and Super Device features allow users to work seamlessly across devices.
The HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S also comes with the upgraded PaperMatte Display with anti-glare and anti-reflection technology, providing a vibrant and eye-friendly viewing experience. Certified by SGS and TÜV Rheinland for its eye-protecting properties, the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S features true-to-life color displays, allowing users to create their masterpieces without worrying about color accuracy.
The HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S offers a superior, paper-like creative experience. The ultra-hydrophobic, oil-resistant film on the screen prevents fingerprint stains, enhancing touch controls, and reducing the need for frequent cleaning. This makes the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S one of the leading devices, especially for users who like to create art much like the students and the graduates of DLS-CSB’s MMA Program. Using nano-level etching technique, the screen realistically replicates the texture of paper. Used with the third generation HUAWEI M-Pencil, powered by NearLink technology, the screen simulates the sound and feel of pencil on paper. The NearLink connection offers higher accuracy, more pressure levels, and lower latency, allowing creatives to sketch and write with precision and a natural feel.
Students also used Huawei’s new GoPaint app, a user-friendly app developed in collaboration with the China Academy of Art. GoPaint offers realistic painting effects, tested by over 1,000 professional painters, and includes over 100 brushes and numerous textures. It delivers a seamless painting experience with minimal latency and smooth frame rates, featuring tools like Canvas Background Pattern, Ink Wash, curve correction, and willow leaf for enhanced artistry. Full-set app tutorials, interactive guides, and built-in manuscript templates help beginners navigate the app and improve their skills. Whether users are experienced artists or budding ones, GoPaint and the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S make the ultimate duo for artistic expression.
Juane said, “Our students used these tablets to create artworks, some of which were chosen to be featured in the Multimedia Arts Festival scheduled for the last quarter of this year.” She added, “We’re incredibly grateful to Huawei for giving our students the chance to explore such an excellent digital drawing device firsthand.”

Select student pieces were featured in a dedicated space at the Comic-Con Market on the 12th floor of DLS-CSB’s Design and Arts Campus, demonstrating the impeccable creative talent and skills and the tablet’s boundless creative potential. Michelle Manabat, a student, shared her experience with the tablet. She said, “It was great, I love (that) it’s pressure sensitive and it really felt like I was drawing on paper.” She added, “I love painting so it really felt like I was painting.”

Asked whether she found the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S helpful for her field, Manabat answered, “Since I am in game development, we have an art back and we really need (a tablet like) this especially when we fo game drafts in class.”

MMA student Su Jong Song was thrilled with the GoPaint app, particularly its user-friendliness and the depth of its features. “I like how you can tweak the colors and play around with the color saturation, gradient maps, and the curve tool,” said Song. “You can practice your color skills (with GoPaint) considering there is a variety of options to tweak colors. And I think, since it’s a drawing app, you (can) practice your illustration skills.”

Song added, “The PaperMatte Display on the tablet makes it more efficient for me.”
Charisse Umaran, another student who used the GoPaint app on the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5”S to create an artwork said, “I think this is one of the best paint programs that I’ve used for a tablet.” She remarked, “This captured my ideas and it’s very user-friendly and beginner-friendly for a traditional artist going digital. I think it’s very convenient and (you experience) no lags.”
