To live by the beach used to be only a dream. But the digital revolution – hastened by the pandemic – has redefined the way we work, live, and play. All over the world, remote workers are crossing borders to relocate to places on their bucket lists. With so many island destinations and relatively low cost of living, the Philippines is gaining popularity as a destination for global remote workers and freelancers.

Filipinos are also becoming more agile, and are considered today as one of the fastest growing remote work markets in the world. They are moving across the country to island destinations and provinces or choosing to work from their homes to spend more time with their families or take on multiple jobs.

With this major shift in the workplace model and people’s attitudes, PLDT Home and Get Hired Online are co-presenting Get Hired Job Fair and Conference 2024, the first ever remote workers job fair on July 26 at SM Megamall. The job fair is designed to empower aspiring remote workers and freelancers by connecting them directly with leading companies and offering insights from industry experts through workshops and panel discussions.

PLDT Home recognizes the transformative potential of the internet in facilitating remote work and freelancing. By providing reliable and high-speed connectivity, it empowers individuals and businesses to embrace the flexibility and freedom of remote work. Its range of fiber plans also gives them the flexibility to choose an internet package based on their usage and budget.

Get Hired, the organizer of the job fair, is an expert in matching recruiters, and agency and BPO owners with potential employees. It has also organized roadshows, job fairs, career fairs in schools and universities, community meetups and outreach programs.

The Get Hired Job Fair and Conference featured an impressive array of 50 hiring and exhibiting companies and 4,000 pre-registered remote workers and freelancers, and partnerships with universities. Walk-ins during the job fair were also welcomed. They are a mix of grads or undergrads, experienced remote workers or newbies. Government agencies such as Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), SSS, Pag-Ibig, Philhealth, Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) were also represented during the fair.

Get Hired Job Fair and Conference effectively streamlined the recruitment process for employers and employees. Aspiring or current remote workers were able to browse the booths of potential employers, get to know their company profile and mission, their current job openings, and interact with recruiters.

The diverse opportunities available at the job fair allowed remote workers and freelancers to choose and even discover companies where their skills are a perfect match and where they can thrive professionally.

The companies—ranging from digital agencies to financial services and call centers— screened and shortlisted qualified candidates who excel in this work environment. They were also able to increase their visibility and brand, network, and offer career development training and resources.

With remote work becoming a standard in the future of employment, PLDT Home continuously advances its technology and infrastructure for wider coverage and improved services, which directly benefit remote workers by enabling them to work autonomously and productively. PLDT Home supports this modern workforce to find professional fulfillment and live their best life.

The Get Hired Job Fair and Conference 2024 took place on July 26 at Megatrade Hall 3, 5th level of SM Megamall B. For more information on PLDT Home packages and services that suit remote workers, visit PLDT Home.
