Paralympians Jerrold Pete Mangliwan and Cendy Asusano are brimming with excitement as they prepare for their upcoming campaigns at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, set to take place from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.

The two athletes received a heartfelt send-off from their Pilipinas Para Athletics family led by team manager Judith Staples and coach Edward Obiena of Edobee Sports at the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.

They are scheduled to depart for Nîmes, France today (Sunday) for a 10-day training camp ahead of the Games.

“We are going to Paris na handa at tiwala sa gaming preparation. Basta ibibigay ko lahat para sa bayan,” said Magngliwan.

This will be Mangliwan’s third appearance at the Paralympics, where he will compete in the T52 men’s 400-meter wheelchair race. For Asusano, the Paris Games will mark her Paralympic debut as she aims to excel in the women’s F54 javelin throw event.

“Hands and gaming mga coaches as gaming training. Handang-handa na kami at ibubuhos lahat ng kaya namin,” said Asusano.

The farewell party was attended by national para athletics coaches Bernard Buen and Joel Deriada, Philippine Paralympic Committee Para Sports Development Director Milette Bonoan, and other members of the national para athletics team and coaching staff.

Mangliwan and Asusano will be joined in Paris by four other Paralympians: para swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom, para taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin, and para archer Agustina Bantiloc.
