Perpetual Junior Altas overall champion in NCAA Season 99

LAS PIÑAS CITY—The Perpetual Junior Altas Team was named Best Performing Member School or Overall Champion in the recently concluded National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Season 99 during turnover rites for Season 100 host Lyceum of the Philippines University at the Casino Espanol De Manila in TM Kalaw, Ermita, Manila recently.

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) president and NCAA Policy Board Member Dr. Anthony Tamayo and Franck Gusi, Management Committee representative, accepted the elegant trophy from Season 99 Host Jose Rizal University.

It was the second straight honor for the Las Pinas City-based Altalettes, who were also named the Best Performing School of Season 99. They also claimed the general champion of Season 94.

The Juniors Altas won the track and field championship, led by Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Marvin Ramos of San Fernando, Pampanga, after collecting gold medals in the 100 meters and long jump, and was part of the triumphant 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. Junior Altas head coach Philip Silloco was hailed as Coach of the Year.

The Junior Altas Tracksters collected 804.5 points in 18 events to claim their second consecutive title, while the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers landed second spot with 657.25 points. The Arellano Braves tallied 503 points at third place.

Junior Altas Lebron Jhames Daep, JD Pagulayan, Icee Callangan and Loiue Rosales were named Kings of 3×3 basketball after beating the Greenies, 16-9, in the inaugural season of the cage tournament of the oldest collegiate league in the country.

The Altas Girls’ Volleyball Team of coaches Jason Sapin and Sandy Rieta clinched the Volleyball Fiesta title after defeating the Arellano Lady Braves in five sets, 19-25 , 25-23, 24-26, 25-22, 18-16, in Game 2 of their best-of-three championship showdown at the Fil Oil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.

The Junior Altas spinners made history as they dethroned the defending champion San Beda University Red Cubs paddlers in the finals, 3-1, bannered by Freshman of the Year and Season 99 MVP and Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Gerald Aguilar.

The athletes of Team Owner Dr/BGEN Antonio Tamayo and Team Manager Anton Tamayo also got the 1st runner-up trophy in Junior Basketball, led by Season 99 MVP Amiel Acido, Rookie of the Year and Mythical Five member Mark Gojo Cruz and Defensive Team member and Mythical Five member Lebron James Daep.

The Chess Team of coach Kenneth Rovillos and Roel Abelgas emerged first runner-up.

The Perpetual Altas team is also preparing for the opening of Season 100, scheduled to open on September 7, 2024 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Coach Olsen Racela is set to present his 15-man line up that will compete in senior basketball.

The coaches and players promised to improve their games even more to defend their respective sports and the general championship.
