ALEX Eala has shot up to a new career-high in the world rankings at no. 143 and has become one of the top money earners of the World Tennis Association Tour.

The 19-year-old Eala earned this after she snared her first-ever W100-level event crown,  stopping old rival Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva of Andorra, 6-4, 6-4, in the women’s singles finals of the ITF Vitoria-Gasteiz on Sunday evening.

Eala moved up from no. 155 last week after she prevailed in their 94-minute encounter in a battle between left-handed hard hitters.

The Filipina netter picked up $5,573.00 from her singles’ win and got a half of the $5,573.00 that she and her  French partner Estelle Cascino won after beating Lia Karatancheva of Bulgaria and Diana Marcinkevica of Latvia, 6-3, 2-6, 10-4, in the doubles’ finals last Saturday.

The bounty has given Eala total earnings of P488,173.90 from her weeklong campaign.

She now has a total prize earnings of $170,141 or P9,936,404.54 since the start of the year and ranks at no. 170 in the WTA’s list of money earners as of July 22.

Since turning pro at age 14, Eala now has a four-year total earnings of $350,005 or more than P20.440 million.

Iga Swiatek is considered as the WTA’s biggest money maker of the year with more than $6.826-million in earnings since the beginning of  2024.

Jasmine Paolino and Aryna Sabalenka are behind Swiaek with earnings of $4,274,510 and $3736,491, respectively.
