NUCAA opens 2nd season on Saturday at Ynares Arena

The National Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (NUCAA) opens its 2nd season on Saturday (March 2, 2024 )at the Ynares Sports Arena in Shaw Blvd., Pasig City.

Basketball godfather Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada will be the guest of honor and speaker during the opening ceremonies of the grassroots basketball program of NUCAA billed as the ‘League of Change’.

After a successful maiden season, NUCAA Chairman Atty. Carmelo Arcilla said the league offers more a innovative system and intends to be the goldmine of local talents that will contribute to big-time basketball such as the PBA and Gilas Pilipinas in the near future.

“It’s all systems go for the opening of NUCAA Season 2 this weekend. We are inviting basketball enthusiasts to witness the next big season of our ‘League of Change, Arcilla said.

Solomon Padiz Sr., the league’s president, will welcome all student athletes of the NUCAA and motivate them to show their wares to fulfill their ambitions in this field of sport where they belong.

Executive Director Leonardo Andres said defending 3-division champion (men, juniors, women) Philippine College of Criminology will begin its quest for back-to-back glory against strong contender teams New Era University, St. Vincent College of Cabuyao, San Pedro College of Business Administration, IIH College, WCC Aeronautical and Technological College, Asia Tech, Metro Manila College of Novaliches and Westbridge Institute of Technology.

Former PBA coach Arlene Rodriguez (deputy executive director), EVP Red Dumuk, Secretary Atty. Joanne Marie Fabella,T reasurer Gene Bang Tumapat, Auditor Ricardo Andres, Directors Bay Cristobal and Turo Valenzona, Technical Operation head JM Bernarte and PRO Danny Simon comprise NUCAA’s nucleus of the league’s vision for sports and beyond.

All school team’s top brass will come in full force to add glitter to the grand and festive ceremonies, with their students expected to fill the rafters.
