Members of the record-breaking K-pop girl group NewJeans have launched a new Instagram account as their dispute with their label, ADOR, continues.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein introduced the account, “jeanzforfree,” marking a significant shift from their official group page, “newjeans_official,” which is managed by ADOR.
Through a series of Instagram stories, the members confirmed that they would be managing the new account.
“We’re gonna be just living here, so just tune in any time you like because we’re gonna be living in this account now,” said Hanni.
The move comes amid escalating tensions between the group and their label. In November, the members held a press conference announcing that they were terminating their contracts with ADOR, citing allegations that the agency had breached contractual obligations.
The new Instagram account appears to be part of the group’s broader effort to assert independence from their agency.
As of Sunday, the account had already gained 1.9 million followers, with fans using the hashtag #JeanzForFree on social media to show support.
Neither ADOR nor HYBE has issued a public statement addressing the conflict since the members’ announcement in November.
