During the second day of Julie Anne San Jose and Stell’s Ang Ating Tinig concert at the New Frontier Theater on Sunday, OPM icon Gary Valenciano had nothing but good words for the duo.
OPM’s “Mr. Pure Energy” praised Julie Anne and Stell for their talent. He admired their skills and the lively energy they brought to the stage.
“And I’m speaking on behalf of artists like myself who have been in the industry for quite some time. I need to say this. I have been hearing them backstage even though I can’t see them. These are not just artists we have here. These are outstanding artists,” said Gary V.
Mr. Pure Energy also lauded the two for their exceptional contributions to the OPM, with Stell as one of the members of P-pop powerhouse SB19 while Julie as one of the “extraordinary female vocalists.”
“I’m being very honest with both of you right now. You [Stell] represent SB19. Hats off to SB19. I watched their concert at Araneta. Julie, there are many female singers, but there are very few extraordinary female vocalists. I can say now that the state of OPM is in good hands because of talents like these,” he continued.
Hearing these, both Julie and Stell expressed their gratitude towards Gary for his kind words and for allowing them to perform with them. The OPM legend was among the star-studded guest performers who graced the event, with him dancing and singing to SB19’s hit single, “Gento”, together with Julie and Stell.
“We just want to share that we are truly so honored to be here with the one and only Gary Valenciano. It’s emotional because before, we could only watch him and listen to his songs, and now we are with him,” shared Julie.
Stell, on the other hand, turned to Gary’s performance, stating that it was an honor for him to dance and sing with the singer.
“Isa pong karangalan ang makapag-’Gento’ with Mr. Gary V. New Frontier, papaalala ko sa inyo, kayo ang kauna-unahang nakakita paano ang isang ‘Pure Energy’ kumaldag,” Stell quipped.
Gary V also showed his appreciation towards Julie and Stell for having him as one of the guest performers for their concert.
“You know, first of all, I want to thank all of you. Because I know this generation is different from my generation. But it feels different when I hear your love and your cheers. It really means a lot to me,” added Gary V.
After the ment, Gary V requested Stell and Julie to perform with him once again. The trio then gave an emotional rendition of his song, “Sana Maulit Muli.”
Apart from Gary, fellow SB19 member Josh Cullen also gave an electrifying performance of his single “Yoko Na.”
Julie and Stell also treated fans with outstanding performances of OPM classics like “Dati”, “Makita Kang Muli”, ”Beer”, ”Your Love”, “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana”, and ”Till My Heartaches End”.
They wrapped up their concert by switching their respective songs, “I’ll Be There” for Stell and “Hanggang Sa Huli” for Julie. Before leaving the audience, they showed off their rapping skills by singing “Bagsakan.”
