Conti’s Bakeshop and Restaurant is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a delightful throwback to its humble beginnings.
The bakeshop and restaurant began its food business in the late 90s in their garage when Cecille, Carole, and Angie—known as the “Conti Sisters” today—served in their neighborhood some of their specialties, including Baked Salmon, Garlic Sotanghon, and Ensaymada, in a makeshift kitchen in Parañaque 25 years ago.
It turns out that their love for good food has roots that go much further back. Their father was a public lawyer who frequently invited his colleagues to their home, so the sisters helped their parents entertain family and friends by cooking for them. That’s how Carole—the main foodie among the three sisters—became interested in cooking and entertaining at an early age.
Angie, the youngest of the three, said that it was her sister Carole who loved trying new food and was already planning to have a food business with the siblings back then.
Before pushing for their food business, Carole lived in the United States where she spent most of her time sharpening her cooking and baking skills. She then moved back to the Philippines with a collection of cookware and a few “hard-to-find” ingredients.
It was in 1997 when the sisters launched their specialties to a broader market through Conti’s. Carole was assigned to be the chef, while sisters Cecile and Angie served as the tasters and order-takers.
As the sisters look back on how they started, Conti’s has now expanded further, reaching more Filipinos with its home-grown brand of hospitality and culinary excellence.
Every meal at Conti’s takes one back to happy times spent around the family table – memories that are hard to forget.
Conti’s story reflects the importance of family, tradition, and the love felt for each other and their guests. It’s a 25-year-old tale of delightful food and service, of resilience and perseverance through good and bad times, of the best of the modern-day Filipino family.
Conti’s Bakeshop & Restaurant is currently serving more than 150 delicacies to its guests from 70 stores nationwide.
