At least 300,000 people attended the grand rally Monday night of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas presidential candidate former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Lakas-CMD vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as Cebu delivered one of the biggest crowd for the tandem with barely three weeks to go before the May 9 elections.
The rally was organized for the UniTeam by One Cebu local party led by Gov. Gwen Garcia, Lakas-CMD led by its President and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, and Tingog party-list headed by Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez in the country’s number one vote-rich province.
Garcia said the mega rally for the UniTeam was a concrete expression of support to the candidacies of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.
“This is a 30 hectare lot and it was filled to the brim. Even if you were to give one sqm for every person, you do the math, one hectare is 10,000, this is 30 hectares, so in other words this is 300,000 at least if we were to give an allowance of one square meter per person,” Garcia told reporters in an ambush interview, adding that Cebu will deliver a landslide victory for the tandem.
“The UniTeam is overwhelmed by Cebu’s great show of support. Thanks to our allies and partners led by Governor Garcia. This is a premise for what we should expect and what will happen in three weeks—an overwhelming win for Marcos and Duterte,” Romualdez said.
Marcos thanked Garcia, the city officials as well as all the other mayors of Cebu towns for organizing the biggest rally in coordination with Lakas-CMD and Tingog party-list.
On the other hand, Duterte-Carpio assured Cebu it will retain its status as the “Queen City of the South” and will become a key partner of the country in progress and economic development.
For his part, Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama has expressed confidence that the country could attain peace, prosperity, and stability under the leadership of Marcos.
“We’ve been with BBM for so long a time. I know him and having so much experience from his father to his senatorship, governorship. Put it all together, the element of experience is very important,” Rama said.
“When you talk about capacity, let’s not talk about yesterday, let’s move forward. I can see Marcos and (Inday Sara) Duterte as the curing administration,” he added.
Asked about criticisms being thrown at Marcos, the city mayor said that was the perception when someone was going up.
“He is being perceived as such because he is very popular. When you are popular, just like mangoes, when it’s not yet ripe nobody cares but when it’s ripened everybody wants them,” he said.
Rama said there was now an opportunity for the UniTeam to bring prosperity, progress, and peace for the country.
“Let’s give what we called a best of hope for the curing tandem,” he said.
