Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin reaffirmed the Marcos administration’s unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal drugs following the arrest of a suspected drug pusher operating in San Miguel, Manila, within the Malacañang Complex.
In a joint operation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Presidential Security Group (PSG), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and local police, authorities apprehended Edgar Ventura, also known as “Face.”
Bersamin commended the agencies involved in the successful operation, which led to the seizure of drug paraphernalia and several sachets of suspected shabu.
“We commend the NBI, PSG, PDEA, and local police for this significant achievement. But the work is not done. We urge law enforcement to relentlessly pursue the capture of the accomplices who remain at large,” Bersamin said in a statement.
He stressed that the administration would not tolerate any attempts to evade justice, warning that no area in the country—no matter how close to the seat of power—will be a safe haven for drug-related activities.
“Let it be known: no corner of this land, no matter how remote or concealed, will serve as a refuge for the producers and distributors of these lethal substances. The full, unforgiving weight of the law will always descend upon them,” Bersamin declared.
Bersamin’s remarks came after the NBI confirmed that Ventura operated a drug den in the vicinity of Malacañang.
His accomplices, including Francisco Soriano Jr., alias “Juntot,” are still at large, with law enforcement agencies continuing their pursuit.
Bersamin also called for the public’s cooperation, urging citizens to assist in the ongoing investigation.
“We ask for the full cooperation of all citizens as this investigation unfolds,” he stated.
