State weather bureau PAGASA lifted the wind signal no.1 it earlier hoisted over the Kalayaan Islands in southern Palawan as tropical depression ‘Romina’ moved away early Monday morning.
Based on the latest forecast, PAGASA said ‘Romina’ is no longer directly affecting the weather in the area as it slowly went northwestward outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
The tropical depression was last spotted at 165 kilometers west of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan. It was moving northwestward at 10 km per hour with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 70 km/h.
“It is expected to continue moving away from Kalayaan Islands while heading towards the eastern coast of Vietnam,” PAGASA said in its 5:00 a.m. advisory, adding that ‘Romina’ will further weaken into a remnant low.
