The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and the provincial government of Kalinga are set to implement two infrastructure projects worth P89.8 million funded under the PAMANA (Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan) program of the national government.

“The residents of this remote hinterland barangay are gearing up for increased socio-economic activity as they will soon be better connected to the rest of the municipality.” OPAPRU said on Saturday.

The PAMANA projects P89.8 million include the construction of a bridge and a road linking Brgy Poswoy to the town center and neighboring areas.

According to provincial planning and development coordinator Flordeliza Moldero, the two projects stemmed from consultations with Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) conducted by the provincial government. Rex Espiritu

Moldero said among the 14 barangays of the municipality, 11 have been identified as ELCAC barangays.

The consultations validated the proposals submitted by different ELCAC barangays for funding by the provincial government.

She recalled that the proposals for the projects were personally handed over by Gov. James Edduba to Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. during the 36th Sipat commemoration in September 2022.

After a series of follow-up consultation meetings and validations, the memorandum of agreement to undertake the projects was signed on March 14, 2024 by the provincial government and the OPAPRU.

PAMANA as implemented by OPAPRU is a flagship program of the national government focused on peace-building, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and development in selected areas across the country. Rex Espiritu
