BI agents, cops nab 4 Japanese fugitives

Four Japanese nationals wanted for telecommunication fraud in Cambodia were arrested in separate operations by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., identified the four foreign fugitives as Sawada Masaya, Suzuki Seiji, Ueda Koji, and Kiyohara Jun.

Sawada was the first to fall. He was intercepted upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport based on a warrant issued by Judge Hisashi Takeuchi of Omiya Summary Court in Japan.

Following Sawada’s arrest, the authorities conducted a follow-up operation, leading to the apprehension of the three other suspects at their residence along Jakarta Street in Barangay BF Homes, Parañaque City.

Nartatez said the operation followed an intelligence report and pre-operational clearance linked to BI Mission Order No. 2024-155.”

The suspects are currently under the custody of NCRPO Special Operations Group for documentation and proper disposition.
