Authorities halt foreigner bound for Hong Kong

A 37-year-old passenger attempting to board a flight to Hong Kong was stopped by aviation authorities who found him with a standing warrant of arrest for charges related to women and child abuse.

The suspect, whose name was withheld, was supposed to check in for his flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 3 when a joint team of PNP Aviation Police, Manila International Airport Authority airport police department, and personnel from Pasay Police Station Sub-Station 9 approached and arrested him.

Initial reports said the man was accused of violating Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004. The warrant specified a bail bond amounting to P24,000.

Aviation police added that the suspect was placed under the custody of Pasay Police Station Sub-Station 9 for proper disposition and documentation.

PNP Aviation Security Group director P/Brig. Gen Christopher Abrahano commended the collaborative effort of his men with the MIAA and local police that led to the successful interception and arrest.
